Bluewater Maritime School Schedule
Captains and Master Program
We offer Captains classes (OUPV) either during the day or night. All classes start the first Monday of each month. OUPV night classes run for 3 1/2 weeks, OUPV days run for 7 days, and 100 Ton Master runs for 9 days. Upgrades (OUPV to 100 ton and 100 ton to 200 ton) are scheduled, on demand. Cost includes tuition, books, instruments, testing, First Aid/CPR. Commercial Assist Towing is included, if requested. Call 904-766-4797 for more information.

Deck Programs
Bluewater Maritime School offers two courses of instruction for the deck department. Able Seaman (AB any grade) and Specially Trained Ordinary Seaman (OS) with Basic Safety Training (BST)/Rating Forming Part of a Naviagtional Watch (RFPNW).
AB requires 6 month qualifying sea service. If the mariner has yet to take BST or PSC this is recommended as these are a requirement for advancment to AB. Bluewater offers a package plan which includes all three of these courses at a sustantial cost savings, than if all three were taken seperately. For convience these three class are scheduled back to back so that all can be completed within a month. It is also recommended that RFPNW be taken as it is a requirement for advance to AB unlimited or to participate as a part of the navigation watch team.
Specially Trained OS w BST/RFPNW is an entry level mariner program. Tuition includes drug screen/physical and application fees for a Merchant Mariners Credential. Call 904-766-4797 for more information.

STCW-95 Program
STCW stands for Standards of Training Certification and Watckeeping for seafarers. STCW - 95 is an international convention administered through the U.S. Coast Guard. To receive an STCW-95 endorsement the mariner must demonstrate standardized knowledge and demonstrate standardized competencies. There are several courses covered by the STCW Code. Some of these courses are BST, PSC, Rating Forming Part of the Navigational Watch (RFPNW), Bridge Resource Management, GMDSS to name a few. Bluewater currently offers four courses covered by the STCW Code. BST, PSC, BST Refresher, and RFPNW. Bluewater plans on adding more courses in the near future that fall under the STCW Code.
BST is for the mariners who has never had BST and leads to their initial BST endorsement. It is recommended for mariners seeking and AB endorsement if they have not had it previously.
PSC is also recommended for those seeking an AB endorsement. It too, is a requirement for advancement to AB and meets the lifeboatman requisite.
BST refresher is for the mariner who needs to renew their BST endorsement but does not have the qualifying 365 days of sea service in the previous five years. Check with the National Maritime Center if you have any doubt as to whether or not you need BST Refresher. The number for the National Maritime Center is 1-888-427-5662
RFPNW is required to stand watch as a part of the navigation watch team. It is a requirement for advancement to AB Unlimited. It requires assessments to be signed off by a qualified assessor. We currently offer RFPNW (limited to lookout duties only). This is considered a restricted endorsement and allows the holder to stand lookout duties as a part on the navigation team while assessments for the full endorsement are being signed off. This endorsement is good for is good for one year and is not renewable. For more information on these classes call the school at 904-766-4797.
